Education is a huge investment towards your child’s future and being involved in it can help you to make sure that your child gets the most out of it and is genuinely happy. After all, it is where they spend most of their time. Paying an interest can help you to show your child that you care about them while enabling you to make the necessary changes to improve their performance. The easiest way to do this is by simply speaking to your child. It can create a relationship where they feel comfortable to communicate with you about the things concerning them and offer emotional support as school can be quite the rollercoaster and emotionally taxing.

If you would like more ideas on how you can be involved in your child’s education, we have some tips below from a sixth form.

Speak To Their Teacher

Teachers have seen hundreds, if not thousands of students walk through their doors. All bring their own issues and teachers are trained to deal with them. They are observant and are the ones teaching them, so they are the best people to turn to about their work. Parents evenings are great times for this, however, if that is too far into the academic year, there’s nothing stopping you from having discussions with their teachers outside of this.

Join The PTA

Have your voice heard and raise any concerns that you have about your child’s school via the PTA. Many schools have them and they are well-respected and considered by the schools to ensure that their students receive the best education possible.

Help With Homework

Homework is an essential part of school. Progress at school relies on it as it’s a fact that we forget almost 50% of what we’re taught after a day. Helping your child to understand their homework can make sure that it gets done and that this progress is made.
