Lots of us are using a lot of online resources right now. There are companies advertising their downloadable worksheets and areas of educational resource that can help during this time we find ourselves in. Similarly, schools are doing their best to keep the cogs turning and children learning. Working together has never been harder, whilst juggling many other things in life. But we must remain focused on the values we have in this life. Discipline, fair play, kindness. In times of stress we can so often drop the ball but remember, when you’re educating others, you are what you teach. How you are seen, is what you are viewed as.

Sustainability

For so many years companies have promoted values as a way of setting apart their company from others. A business will say that they have value X and Y, write it on their website and include it in their literature. However, when the going gets tough, sometimes, values are the first to get going. In times of stress, we must remain consistent. One of these values so many companies, including teaching companies, have pushed out there in their promotional materials is sustainability. Whether we’re a self employed photographer sending photography prints to customers, or are a clothing company dispatching hundreds of parcels through the mail system every day, if we’re talking the talk, we must walk the way.

Fortunately, there are great ways to get your hands on affordable but eco friendly bespoke packaging. You don’t have to pay that much more, if anything, compared to packaging and products from unsustainable sources. The difference might be a few pence, but the difference in maintaining your company values is huge. No one will like seeing a company they buy into suddenly drop the ball on the values they once held dear.

The Next Generation

Let’s discuss this in terms of teaching. Child’s minds are so important. They’re like sponges and we can instill values in them which will last a lifetime. If we’re sending out resources right now, why not do it in a way which will potentially capture their imaginations. Use paper which has been recycled and encourage recycling. Remind them to only print things off should they need it and to not waste paper. IF we’re sending resources we can avoid using plastic, instead, eco friendly envelopes, files and packaging which will do the same job, without the harm to the planet. We’ve got to make a change and the children we are teaching are going to be the next generation fighting to help the environment. You can bring all those values to the table and be what you teach, whilst still having branded packaging.

Create the brand you want to be. Be the change you want to see. Educate and teach well whilst making a difference to the world we’re passing onto the next generation. Hold onto those values you have and you can still create what you want to make. Remember, you are what you teach.
